The Benefits of Joining a Club
Joining a club can benefit a student in so many ways. Throughout my time at Purdue I have always relied on a club to enhance my academic experience. I love the beginning of the semester, checking out all of the clubs, seeing all of the excited students eager for others to join them, and narrowing down a club to join. Clubs and organizations have so many things to offer and can positively influence a student in so many ways. First being the obvious, the social aspect of an organization, there are so many different type of students you are able to meet. These are students you most likely would not meet had you both not joined the club. Being apart of a club gives you a feeling of belonging and students to interact with that have the same interests as you.
The next, is the positive effect it can have on ones grade. Being involved in an outside club has been proven to reflect positively on ones grade, and who doesn't want better grade? It not only allows you to practice better time management skills, but it also allows you to have more of a set weekly schedule.
Lastly, this is a great way to build up a rather bare resume. Not only is it something to add onto your resume, it can be something to talk about in an interview. It will give you more responsibility and help prepare you for life outside of college. So as next semester approaches, start to think about the possible clubs you would want to be apart of.
