How to Keep your Sanity During Finals Week…
Finals week is rough, for anyone. The long nights at the library, the early morning days, it can be pretty exhausting. I always find myself to be moody, tired and fatigued during this week and I know I am not alone. But, being a senior I have found many tips and coping techniques to get me through.
Lists. Lists are your number one best friend during this week of torture. I like to begin by writing a list of all the things I need to complete. Weather this be final projects, exams to take, studying, or basic tasks, I write it all down on one master list.
Next I try and take one hour each day for time to myself. This can be cooking a good meal, working out, or even watching T.V. I allow myself one hour everyday during this week to take time, breathe, and be alone doing whatever I please. I found this to be very helpful and it really does allow me to go back to studying more refreshed and able to focus.
Lastly, I give myself a deadline. I do not let myself pull all-nighters, or stay at the library till 3:00a.m. That has been proven less beneficial and I know I will be able to get more done the next day if I am well rested and get a decent night sleep. I only allow myself to stay at the library till midnight. This way I know how much time I have exactly and get sleep. I also found this to make me utilize my time better and actually get more done when I know I have a time limit.
I hope this helps, and happy studying!
